      ##The Influence of Picasso

Pablo Picasso is arguably one of the most influential artists working throughout the 20th century. With a practice spanning across paintings, etchings, lithographs and ceramic sculpture, Picasso enjoyed a long career characterised by an ever-changing artistic style. A pioneer of Cubism, Picasso led the way for the avant-garde art movements that followed. Works such as Guernica, The Weeping Woman and Les Demoiselles d'Avignon are examples of Picasso’s most famous works.

      Artists inspired by Picasso

Josefina Ayllón is a self-taught painter working primarily in oils and acryllics to form expressive impasto paintings. With her portraits, Josefina explores the tension between capturing physicality and depicting fictional characters. Using texture to look at the materiality of painting, Josefina creates works that are concerned with mood, gesture and expression. Jan Brauer works in a Cubist style when forming his still life paintings and prints. Jan primarily explores the importance of everyday objects in relation to subconscious thoughts. His graphic take on Cubist composition results in bright and bold artworks with a clear design influence.
