Delphine Lebourgeois is a renowned French illustrator and printmaker based in London. Her beautifully detailed drawings are produced with a fine pen and coloured with transparent inks. The artist puts her drawings together digitally and prints them onto different types of paper. She then arranges…Show more this material into final collages. The overarching theme of Delphine’s imagery is group/crowd psychology, with a particular focus on women. We love the artist’s imaginative, almost surreal compositions. The way she combines intricate detail and abstract areas of colour makes her prints visually arresting.
Delphine studied Fine Art at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in France before pursuing Illustration at Central Saint Martin’s in London. In 2010, Delphine won the Images 29 Critics Award. She was also shortlisted for the 2011 Club Monaco Emerging Artist.
The artist is now a favourite for book covers with major publishing houses like Penguin and Harper Collins. Delphine has also been commissioned to produce illustrations for The Guardian and The New Yorker.Show less
"At first glance these works seem beautiful and delicate, but on closer inspection they possess a darker, sinister quality. The viewer is able to interpret each work for themselves, as they have something of the strange quality of a dream. I love them."
