Delphine Lebourgeois

Delphine Lebourgeois is a French artist based in London. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and completed her MA at Central Saint Martins.

Working across digital media, ink, watercolour, acrylic and screenprint, her practice consistently begins with collage. By assembling found imagery into carefully staged compositions, she constructs layered narratives that move between illustration and fine art while subtly questioning the boundaries between them.

Her work explores human psychology, popular culture, consumerism and storytelling. Drawing on references ranging from antique Greek sculpture to Japanese space anime, she creates precise visual scenarios where rebellious female figures take centre stage. Often depicted as a collective, these characters embody solidarity, resistance and individual freedom. While her imagery can carry erotic undertones, humour and playfulness remain central, balancing empowerment with wit.

In her 2025 solo exhibition Play (Broadworks), she presented a series of works on paper celebrating creative freedom. Her warrior-like heroines exchanged weapons for pleasure, reinforcing a tone of joyful liberation.

Lebourgeois has exhibited internationally across Europe, Asia and the United States. Her work has been featured in The Guardian, Vogue, Stylist and Time Out, and in 2019 her images were integrated as street art in the video game Need for Speed Heat by EA Games.
