Diptychs & Triptychs

C

Curated by Cécile Martet

An artist's imagination can extend beyond a single support. These multi-paneled works are not exclusively religious and will allow you to dress up a wall in an original and sophisticated way.

Diptychs and triptychs first appeared as altar pieces in Renaissance art. More recently, these "non-standard" formats were re-appropriated by artists such as Andy Warhol in his iconic "Marylin Diptych", or Mark Rothko with his monochrome diptychs in the Rothko Chapel.
