Geometric Sculptures For Sale

Explore our selection of contemporary geometric art sculptures for sale online today. Showcasing a selection of works from emerging geometric sculptors, our online gallery is constantly evolving with innovative and original artwork in various styles and subject matter.

Geometric sculpture often distorts recognisable shapes and deconstructs forms to their essential elements. This means geometric sculpture can encompass a variety of topics, from abstracted figurative sculptures to objects imitated with sharp shapes and angular curves.

Not sure where to begin? Begin by exploring our carefully curated collection of handcrafted geometric metal sculptures which evoke undulating landscapes.

Modern geometric abstract sculptures are regularly inspired by science and technology – why not explore art which emulates everything from the pattern of DNA to the vastness of the cosmos.

The History of Geometric Sculpture

Geometric sculpture is derived from a tradition of abstraction. The formal rise of the phenomenon began in the early 20th century, coinciding with movements like Cubism and Constructivism.

Artists such as Pablo Picasso and Naum Gabo explored geometric abstraction, breaking away from traditional representational art to emphasise structure and form. Gabo’s Constructed Head #2 (1916), a face built out of discrete metal parts, is often considered a forerunner of abstract expressionist sculpture.

The mid-20th century saw the proliferation of modern geometric abstract sculptures, with artists like Donald Judd and Sol LeWitt further refining the concept through the Minimalist movement. Their works, often characterised by clean lines and mathematical precision, focused on the interplay between space, material, and shape. These sculptures celebrated the purity of form, often devoid of emotional expression, reflecting the stark aesthetic tendencies of the period.

Today, geometric sculpture continues to evolve, embracing new materials and technologies like metal, glass, and digital fabrication. Contemporary artists draw upon this rich history, creating works that challenge perceptions of space, scale, and geometry. British artist Jonathan Page works with ceramics to produce symbolic forms in a minimalist style, referencing nature and elements of art history. His piece, Geometry (2016), depicts the Surrealist icon of the lobster through large and exaggerated shapes – portraying nature through simplified, yet complex structure.

Taking a different approach to abstracting form in geometric sculpture, Serbian artist Marko Markovic creates figurative sculptures formed from plaster, wood and metal. Markovic’s figurative sculptures replace the expected soft curves of the body with distinct and pronounced shapes. In Acropolis 698 (2014), Markovic responds to ancient marble sculptures, and distorts the male nude by modifying and exaggerating different parts of the body’s anatomy.

Gareth Griffiths works with steel to create freestanding linear sculptures. Inspired by the futuristic Californian style known as Googie, Griffiths uses primary colours and flowing lines in his dynamic metal sculptures. In La Onda (2018), Griffiths utilises the high tensile strength and malleable nature of steel to create a sculpture that appears to be mid-movement, whilst remaining static. Combining motion and minimalism, Griffiths’ pieces are unique, playful abstract works of art.
