Ulrike Rehm
Ulrike Rehm (1976, Germany) studied in Berlin, at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. She is a co-founder of the Design office RaR and was one of the finalists on the Dutch TV program “de Nieuwe Rembrandt”. Her work was exhibited at various venues, such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Salone del Mobile Milano and Keramiekmuseum Princessehof in the Netherlands.

Curiosity and an incentive for experiment direct Ulrike’s artistic development. Old narrative traditions, archetypical figures and the associations which are inherent to them form the base of her work. Her objects cause these figures to relate, not only to each other but also to contemporary art, current social conditions and the world as a whole. Executed in a wide variety of materials and techniques, Rehm’s work is never ponderous. Far from it, her work is characterized by humor, curiosity and an urge to experiment. It is an invitation to view the world with mildness and reconcile ourselves with its shortcomings.

Ulrike Rehm works and lives in Amsterdam.
