Born in 1973, Sandra Obel is a German painter based in Heidelberg. Her artworks are characterised by a deep love for nature and the lively hustle and bustle that takes place within it. For Sandra, colour is more than just a visual element; it is emotion, a vivid feeling that runs throughout her work. Sandra's works are an invitation to everyone to boldly pursue and realise their own dreams and visions. She creates powerful and expressive depictions by merging vivid colours, bold lines and graphic elements, building up a sense of momentum.
In her artwork, Sandra challenges the viewer to explore new paths and perspectives in her paintings. Sandra Obel's Practice and Style
The expressionist painter studied Painting at Wiesbaden Free Art School, Wiesbaden, Germany, in 2015. Previously, she studied Painting and Drawing at the School of Design Bern and Biel, Switzerland, in 2007. Sandra's working method is multi-layered and experimental. She uses a palette of mixed media such as acrylic paints, ink, and charcoal to create exciting, multi-dimensional compositions.
Her canvases provide an expansive space for the viewer to wander and experience with their gaze. Using her paintbrush, Sandra directs observers to discover, seek and find new avenues to explore within her immersive mixed-media paintings. In this way, she both challenges and expands our perception.
Exhibitions and Press
Sandra has exhibited in group and solo shows throughout Germany, where she currently lives and works in Ladenburg. Several major German news publications, in print and digital, have featured Sandra’s work.
