More Works by Paolo Perfranceschi
Paolo Perfranceschi
If the polar stars of Paolo Perfranceschi's painting are easily identifiable (the great Italian tradition, fidelity to figurative art, and the predominance of color), the artist has made them evolve in different contexts and applications. Perfranceschi does not like to reproduce and repeat himself. His guiding principles are reprise, transformation/distortion, and variation on a theme. Throughout his career, he has tested numerous tools and techniques (casein painting, natural pigments, acrylics...) and drawn from various sources of inspiration, exploring subjects as diverse as maternity, the nude, secular and sacred art, landscapes (natural, urban, and dreamlike). Since around 2020, painting has become for Perfranceschi a meeting ground between art forms: the painting is a scene where artistic expressions dialogue and interpenetrate. In these postmodern experiments, the classical and the contemporary collide, resulting in an impossible synthesis akin to surrealism. His latest cycle of paintings, Mythologica, presents itself as a modern and personal reinterpretation of Greek myth in which the artist creates a hybridization between literature, music videos, and Pop Culture.
