      Louisa Boyd

Louisa Boyd began her artistic career after graduating from Manchester School of Art in 2001. Her work considers our connection with nature and is inspired by ideas around finding a sense of place; she interprets these ideas using imagery of landscape and geometric symbols representing the natural world. Map-like marks and celestial bodies also feature in her pieces suggesting ideas of navigation and an interest in traditional techniques alludes to the concept of place from a cultural perspective. Louisa has worked professionally as an artist for over 20 years exhibiting both nationally and internationally, her work has been incorporated into a number of publications and also included in public and private collections worldwide. Winner of the Great Art Prize at the 2020 Flourish Award printmaking exhibition, shortlisted for the John Ruskin prize in 2017, and exhibiting on three different occasions at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition, Louisa’s work is regularly receiving recognition by prestigious juried panels for its innovative and unique aesthetic. This has led to her being shown alongside some of the most well-established and respected names in contemporary art. Although Louisa’s studio is based in the heart of the Cheshire landscape, so that her mindful walking can inspire her practical outcomes, she is a regular feature on the art circuit in London where her work acts as a reminder of the intrinsic human connection to the natural world.
