Gallagher is a Manchester-born artist who has been creating evocative female portraits for over a decade. Alexandra Gallagher’s art has garnered a large following, with exhibitions across the UK and around the globe. Gallagher is a multidisciplinary artist, originally working in collage and mixed media before turning to digital technologies such as Photoshop.

Gallagher has collaborated with several important clients including COAST Fashion, Crown Paint, Grand Designs, Symphony of the Seas, and Cushman & Wakefield.

Alexandra Gallagher stands at the forefront of British Surrealism. Celebrating the surreal and the sublime, Gallagher’s artworks hover between the realms of memory, dreams and experience. Conjured in the digital sphere, the artist’s prints are a curious mixture of traditional nature and modern technology.

Taking inspiration from mythology and art history, Gallagher’s imaginative art splices representations of passive femininity with wild natural forms. In Change (2022), a nude woman is intertwined with vibrant florals and soaring birds. The digital edits, neon highlights and surreal collage give the familiar nude a contemporary twist.

In 2016 the artist was awarded runner-up at the Saatchi Surrealism Showdown and the Secret Art Prize in London. More recently, Gallagher was nominated for the London Contemporary Art Award in 2018 and shortlisted for the Rise Art Prize in 2017.
