Pierre Mallo

Pierre Mallo has always lived and worked in Alsace. Self -taught, he speaks for twenty years in the field of decor: trompe l'oeil, frescoes, ornamental painting. It was from 2013 that he turned more and more towards easel paint. At first there are street scenes, moments stolen from its travels which define its universe. A group of people, a crowd, a movement in a place are all subjects that inspire it. After a collective exhibition with the botanist Francis Hallé, his interest in nature and the landscape asserts himself. This important meeting led him to reconsider what surrounds him directly, trees, mountains and forests, in short what is most common. Which is essential. In the idea of ​​his painting, there is the desire to get back in place, on his scale. Alone in front of a meadow, in front of a relief, there is simply the promise of a tomorrow. His painting is a construction. On a prepared canvas, sometimes with glued tissue paper and then coated with the gesso, the work evolves in thin layers sometimes asserted with a knife then frozen, enhanced until they reach the desired lights and effects. Chance is not absent from the process, often even caused to reveal new possibilities.
