Catherine Villermé

Daughter of an animal painter who passed on to her the passion for color and material, Catherine Villermé stands at the border of the imaginary and the real in an unstable balance between figuration and abstraction. In order to bring her pictorial project to life, the artist chose to paint in oil. Her creative process is intuitive while being conscious and organized. She has a preference for delicate atmospheres where light and colors blend to create a poetic ambiance. Catherine Villermé seeks to construct a narrative based on reminiscences and emotions; she creates fleeting and poetic atmospheres where light becomes matter to organize the work. The artist presents singular landscapes and skies, like so many free spaces of invention where humans, either absent or minuscule, seem crushed by nature. The artist won the "Senate Medal" award in January 2024 and in November 2024 the public prize at the 19th salon of Meslay-du-Maine, then the prize at the La Rochelle salon in January 2025. The artist is exhibiting this year in Paris (exhibition in May at the Thuillier gallery), in Versailles, in La Rochelle (exhibition in October), in Montsûrs (April and December), in Trélazé (Lions club in April) and she also offers special exhibitions at the Château d'Ancenis and at La Maison Bonchamps in La Basse Meilleraie (exhibition planned for June 21/22-28/29 and July 5/6, 2025).
