Mathilde de Bellecombe, born in 1976 in Aix-en-Provence, is a French painter whose work oscillates between abstraction and figuration. After a childhood bathed in the light of southern France, she moved to Paris to study interior architecture and design at the École Camondo, before dedicating herself fully to painting.
Guided by light, colour, and contrasts, she explores in her canvases the interplay of opposing emotions: energy and softness, serenity and imbalance. Her approach is distinguished by a particular focus on space, colour, and white, elements that lend her Body of Work its singular character. The question of origins runs through her practice like a thread: "What will happen afterwards? Elsewhere?" Her universe, a true invitation to travel, opens up a reflection on humanity and destiny.
Mathilde de Bellecombe has exhibited in France, Argentina, Belgium, and the United States, continuing her artistic exploration during her stays in Argentina, Iran, and now in Casablanca, Morocco. Her painting, poetic and vibrant, weaves together the intimate and the universal, opening doors to a world suspended between reality and mystery.
