Nina Archer
Nina Archer is an abstract painter who lives and works in the hills of South Shropshire. After a career as a graphic designer, Nina Archer began painting in her studio overlooking the borderlands of the Welsh Marches. Her dynamic works reflect her experiences with these landscapes.

Style and Working Method of Nina Archer

The artist roams the hills, moors, and moss landscapes, examining and absorbing the many elements that make up the West Midlands. Nina Archer uses layers of texture to capture the dramatic shapes and contours of the land, contrasting monochrome colors to emphasize the dark, wooded valleys, and gestural markings to reflect the changing weather patterns. With the help of spatulas, sanding and scratching techniques, and the blending of gesso, charcoal, acrylic, and graphite, Nina demonstrates a passionate appreciation for nature and the ever-changing terrain around her.

Exhibitions

Nina obtained a BA in Graphic Design from the London College of Printing in 1979, London, United Kingdom. She has exhibited at The Other Art Fair, Bristol, and the Affordable Art Fair, London. She has also shown work at the Royal Cambrian Academy Open and the Highgate Contemporary Art Gallery.
