Fear Collection

Indulge in the thrilling and marvel at the ethereal with our Fear collection. Our team of curators have hand-selected each and every piece in this collection to appeal to the Halloween fanatics amongst us, or those who have a penchant for the otherworldly. Formed of paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures and collages, our Fear collection showcases a diverse selection of works from emerging and established contemporary artists working around the world. Whilst a string of works in the Fear Collection are unified by an orange palette, others adhere to a surrealist style. Every piece of art in this specially curated collection has a similar approach in which they play on the imaginary, the distorted or the surprising. Whether intriguing or shocking the viewer, the art in this collection is daring and original, reflecting the wider range of work we have for sale at Rise Art. Browse our gallery below to discover a thrilling selection of art available to buy online today. If you’re after something surreal and sinister, take a look at the art of Mark Metcalfe. Mark’s painting, Stigmata: Nuns and Adolescent Girls Breed Poltergeist, along with others in his portfolio, presents a ghostly impression that gestures towards a wider narrative. His realist style, together with the starkness of his subject, makes for a painting that is both unsettling and intriguing. Mark’s boldness in his subject choice echoes other works of art throughout the Fear collection. Fellow painter Clinton Kirkpatrick distorts the human form, and in doing so emphasises the features of the hand and eyes to directly confront the viewer. The idea of presenting something that is not quite human is reiterated by printmakers. Taking influence from Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism and Street Art, Darren Macpheson's prints are layered with mediums, motifs and meaning. Martin Thompson’s print, Mouldgirl also demonstrates how combining different elements and techniques can create something that is both unnerving and compelling. Mouldgirl is a mixed media print, created from oils, print, photography and mould. With this piece, Martin pushes the boundaries of what is possible in art, and by adding mould, he undoes the idea that a piece of art is a permanent or still object. The Fear collection is perfect for people with a taste for art that does more than just sit quietly on a wall. Whether you are looking for something to satisfy your bold style, or on the hunt for something to brighten up a room, start exploring our online gallery and find the perfect piece of art to buy for your home.

One artist who is consistently popular with Rise Art customers is ever-loved and endlessly intriguing is photographer Tommy Clarke. Tommy’s realistic style presents an original view of landscapes around the world. Tommy reinvigorates the seascape, altering his lens to either zoom in on the textural quality of the ocean or out to form birds eye view impressions of expansive vistas. Tommy uses a realistic approach to make his subjects abstract. Scenes of real life become appreciated for their ability to form a pattern or an entirely organic aesthetic that somewhat loses their own sense of realism. Tommy’s photographs are typically large scale prints, sitting boldly on their own or perfectly in gallery wall arrangement. Our Best Sellers are diverse in appearance and dynamic in style. Yet, they are all firmly united in their ability to stand out and draw the viewer in. Whether through the photorealistic quality of a painting, or the decorative abstract nature of a photograph, each piece in our Best Sellers collection is unique in its ability to charm and captivate the viewer.

A Celebration of Photography

We are proud of the wide selections of photographers on offer here at Rise Art. All photographers view the medium, and its relationship with their art, in different ways. For Martin Thompson, who captures musicians using techniques from the 1800s, the art is in the preservation of this process. To Reed Hearne, who uses photography as a means to create abstract "digital paintings", photography is a step towards the creation of art rather than an end in itself. Our many documentary photographers, Mitra Tabrizian, Paulina Korobkiewicz and Lena Szankay to name a few, see art in the world around them and use their photography to capture it, giving it a new sense of permanence. No matter what school of thought you belong to, or what style you are after, our selection has something for everyone.
