Dana Schutz: Between Us

Phin Jennings

Curated by Phin Jennings

Dana Schutz is a serial exaggerator. From her characters' physical affects to the deeper social dynamics that exist between them, the figurative painter has created a world where nothing is subtle. To coincide with her exhibition at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, we have put together a collection of works by artists working in a similarly hyperbolic figurative style. Whether in the form of impossibly contorted bodies, unlikely colour configurations or far-fetched facial expressions, the artworks here might be thought of as pure fiction - but, like Schutz's work, they might be better understood representations of our reality with all of its dials turned up a few notches.
