Christo Sharpe

Christo Sharpe’s work is clear, bold and confident, his strong colours and cropped compositions are delightfully simple and appealing. He closes in on a wide range of subjects to emphasise detail and texture. This is work that feels fresh, not just immediately but over time.

Sharpe's career

He is a lifelong painter who had a 20 year career in advertising as an art director before focussing on his painting. In 2009 he began to spend more time in Spain, which influenced his work and increased his popularity worldwide. He now lives and works there.

Nature as a source of inspiration

His original oils focus on what he sees around him, on his walks, in the garden and on the finca where he lives. He takes a camera with him to capture any images that appeal. These images he then dissects into the colours and shapes that echo the original image but display a fresh interpretation.

Christo Sharpe is keen to encourage an ability to search deeplyinto any subject however simple that subject may be. His studio is positioned next to French windows that open onto the garden and let in the light and warmth, encouraging a great atmosphere in which to paint. We say dig in and enjoy!
