Mike Fernandez is a Los Angeles–based mixed media artist working under OJOSEXO STUDIO.
With a background in fashion and nearly a decade in New York working as a wardrobe stylist, hairstylist, and groomer, his practice is rooted in a strong understanding of composition, surface, and visual storytelling. He later transitioned into photography, working across digital, Polaroid, and 35mm, before expanding into collage and painting.
Fernandez’s work begins with hand-cut collages made from found imagery—often sourced from vintage advertising, architecture, and design publications—which he translates into larger works using acrylic and plaster on canvas. His compositions reflect an ongoing interest in structure, drawing from Bauhaus principles and postmodern design to explore form, rhythm, and spatial tension.
Born and raised in California, Fernandez was introduced to art at an early age through his father, a ceramic artist, and exhibited work publicly as a child. Now based in Los Angeles, his practice continues to evolve at the intersection of collage, painting, and image-making, reworking fragments of visual culture into a distinct contemporary language.
