Covadonga Castro

In her work, Covadonga Castro seeks a point of balance between colour, space, and form. This pursuit becomes a constant dialogue between painting and herself.

Early beginnings

Her path toward painting begins elsewhere, in scenography and theatre, which provided her with a solid technical foundation. A journey to Poland then marks a turning point: a year devoted entirely to painting, during which painting ceases to be a technical exercise and becomes thought, presence, and inner experience.

Her first true entry into the art world takes place in 2018 with the Antonio Machón gallery in Madrid. Without yet having an in-depth understanding of the Spanish abstract art tradition, Antonio and Marga turned this encounter into a formative experience, giving rise to a lasting passion.

The influence of nature

The passage of time — cold winters, warm summers — shapes the rhythm of her creative process and influences her palette. Nature becomes the mirror of perpetual change.

Materials play a central role in her practice: linen and pigment, chosen for their rawness and truth. Repetition unfolds as a meditative process, in which gesture and rhythm become absorbing.

Through colour and distorted geometry, movement and contemplation are revealed.
