Bruno Chiapello

After studying applied art and working as a graphic designer and painter, I now devote all my time to painting and sculpture. My work is based on a graphic universe of shapes and links. I imagine blocks colliding and mixing, creating new planes and perspectives. My painting offers a pathway between geometric forms and freer expression. I'm looking for the instinctive, while at the same time offering keys through the path and interweaving that can be brutal or more organic. Each painting is a kind of self-portrait. Brutal, geometric or more sensual, a reflection of my emotions at the time. The end of each series inspires me to create the next. For me, abstraction is a call to pure emotion, without graphic aid, without too simple a reference to what already exists. I also work in ceramics, in parallel and as a reflection of my paintings. For me, it's a logical extension of my work as a painter.
