I’m an experimental photographer who loves working with analogue photographic processes, often using broken cameras, out-of-date film and old photographic paper. I embrace any accidents or imperfections within the process, unusual colours, scratches, distortions and unexpected marks can all become part of the final image. For me, these imperfections give the photographs a sense of individuality and make each image an encounter with both the landscape and the material itself.
I’m inspired by the Suffolk coast and return there constantly to make new work. I’m drawn to its shifting light, weather, sea and skies, and to those fleeting moments when a familiar place becomes unexpectedly atmospheric or strange.
I am currently working on a project exploring landscape, memory, loss and how my lived experience of neurological imbalance and instability can be reflected within the physical landscape of the Suffolk coast. Each return reveals something slightly different, there is a constant reminder that both humans and nature have a shared fragility and vulnerability.
