Former student of the École normale supérieure (philosophy) and graduate of CELSA, Gaëlle Cueff has dedicated the last ten years to her artistic practice, which she presents in numerous exhibitions, after having worked in cultural communication (Musée d’Orsay, Taschen, Parcours des mondes).
Photography, encaustic, collage, and sculpted objects make up her organic and poetic universe where recurring themes such as trace, transparency, hybridization, or the resonances of memory are expressed.
Her works often arise from one of her photographs reworked in layers: superimposed and repainted in sensory series aimed at transcribing the vibration of nature, covered in wax in her encaustic pieces or integrated into dreamlike collages.
Her mastery of encaustic, blending beeswax, pigments, and photography, produces effects of blur and superposition evoking mist, skin, or memory.
Her work has been exhibited in Paris, Brussels, or Shanghai (Françoise Livinec, Art Paris, Art on Paper, FAB…) or even in the windows of Artcurial. An artist in residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai for 5 months in 2018, she was also selected by the unRepresented by a ppr oc he fair dedicated to experimental photography in Paris in 2025.
Her hybrid art invites contemplation and the silent listening of forms and sensitive memory.
