Marie-Astrid Grivet

Marie-Astrid Grivet was born in Paris in 1969. She earned a Master’s degree in Management from Paris-Dauphine University in 1991, and later pursued studies at the Martenot School of Fine Arts, graduating in 2010. She now divides her time between teaching art and her own creative practice. Since 2017, she has been a member of the Société des Artistes Français.

Marie-Astrid Grivet’s artistic approach is primarily focused on achieving a harmonious composition between figuration and abstraction. Her inspiration comes from the depiction of spaces and objects, exploring the interplay of vertical and horizontal lines, curves, solids and voids. Her favourite subjects include staircases, rocks, still lifes, and cubist figures.

Her treatment of colour on the canvas involves multiple layers, allowing for the emergence of varied textures and gradually moving towards a perfect harmony. Using brushes, palette knives, pigments, and oil sticks, colour enhances the essential search for lines, rhythms, softness, and energy.

Marie-Astrid Grivet’s works have been acquired by collections across Europe, the United States, and Dubai.
