Georgia Peskett paints the city. At age 18, she had just finished a diploma in art and design at Epsom, London, and was all set to study graphic design. But it didn't feel right. So she took off for New York, where her father, the artist Stan Peskett, introduced her to the 80s NYC downtown scene. It was a chance to get to know her dad, who had always lived in the US while she grew up in the UK.
Her first six foot cityscape was sold by the art dealer Guillaume Gallozzi. She became assistant… to his curatorial partner and artist Joe La Placa, and continued to learn about materials and techniques.
Peskett is now a well-regarded British oil painter whose urban landscapes. She begins by journeying with a camera through the streets, looking to capture the essence of a place or moment. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections around the world and she regularly exhibits in the UK and US.
