Brigitte Williams
Swiftly rising artist Brigitte Williams breaks down the way we understand the world's systems and symbols. She takes flags, words, colours, or maps, and reduces them to their component parts. Then she rearranges the parts into a circle, like a deliberately flat spin painting.

Her work is always objective. She erases the hand of the artist, and appears to deal only in diagrams and graphics, but they are never reduced to mere statistics. A work by Williams will always leave you questioning the linguistic and structural patterns that help us make sense of the world.

Her piece ‘Out of the Dark’, which began with the word ‘zero’, was a big hit at the Royal Academy Summer Show in 2011.
