Jordana Rae Gassner is an internationally exhibited US-American residing in Germany. She is an artist focused on metaphysical realism; reflecting humanity's inherent cosmic nature and interconnectedness to all things on cellular and other levels.
She's been enamored with Georgia O'Keeffe since childhood and later developed crushes on bodies of works by Peter Doig and Per Kirkaby.
With a strong focus on structure and line, her own abstract paintings become evocative and engaging. There is a powerful dynamism in her work and the stories they convey are multi-faceted, resonating on multiple levels of the viewer. „My colours are potent, the combinations lively and real.“
The early years of JR's life were spent in the Black Hills of S.D. It was there she learned to love the elegantly complex manifestations of nature while running barefoot through prairie lands and climbing up big rocks.
JR obtained her Bachelors of Arts in 1999 and acquired a Diploma in painting at the Kolbermoor Art Academy. She has studied at the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico, the University of Bergen in Norway and Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, USA amidst many side classes pursuing a wide variety of painting techniques, production of oil paint, papermaking, sculpture, screen printing, linocuts, and etching.
Jordana has had the honor of being mentored by several established local and international artists. Her works are elegant and strong and evoke a sensual engagement with the viewer.
