Geert Heirbaut - Kowalsky Days

Geert Heirbaut lives and works in Gand, in Belgium.
Geert Heirbaut focuses on exploring the boundaries between the loss of image, the formless, and the representative.

The world we inhabit contains a multitude of things: ephemeral and eternal, living and dead, and much more. So, what defines us? Moreover, we live in a fragmented and complex era. Each person can contemplate and experience all of this through their senses. Although we strive to capture the beauty of this world in depictions, every attempt merely serves as a substitute for the immeasurable diversity of perception that exists in our reality.

As for me, I am committed to discovering new personal ways of communication, and I strongly desire to share my experience through art. What I aim to do is compress and shape this reality in such a way that it becomes a sensory discovery in itself, much like the fragmented world that reveals itself to us. In fact, I recreate reality as it appears to me, scattered and complex. Starting from scratch, I construct my own universe and create image associations that refer to what is familiar to us. I explore the delicate balance between the formless organic and the familiar world shaped by light, time, evolution, and other factors. My images acquire fragmentation and complexity that evoke connections with our familiar world.
