Geoff Diego Litherland is a Mexican born artist who is now based in Derbyshire in the UK.
He explores the interconnectedness of all things and seeks to cultivate an ecological consciousness through his practice. Engaging with both traditional and contemporary painting languages, he investigates the relationships between making, matter, and the land. His work emphasizes process and material as metaphors rooted in place and time. The surfaces bear the rhythms and patterns of nature, evoking a sense of slow time and a continual search for cosmic perspective.
Geoff was born in Tehuacan, Mexico, but relocated to the UK where he had his artistic beginnings with a BA Fine Art at Falmouth University in 2002. Following this, he focused his attention on London, receiving an MA at Goldsmiths and going on to gain recognition throughout the capital's art scene. He now works on his painting from his home in Derbyshire.
Geoff's work has not gone unnoticed by the art world, and he has received numerous awards including the 2012 Saatchi Online Surreal Showdown and the prestigious Warden's Purchase prize from Goldsmiths. You'll find his conceptual paintings in collections across the globe, and he has taken part in many solo and group shows in the UK.
