Jeanette Lafontine

Jeanette Lafontine is an abstract painter who explores imaginary landscapes and dreamlike places through abstraction. Jeanette mixes intuitive and controlled gestures, allowing her work to wander between minimalist and expressionist styles.

Jeanette LaFontine's Creative Process

The artist forms a dialogue between representation and abstraction, providing immense freedom of creativity and intuition. By continually shifting between styles, Jeanette offers surprising processes and imagery in every new piece of work. Although often using Nordic topography as a starting point for experimentation, she is not interested in depicting a place or time. Jeanette looks, instead, to investigate the physical qualities of paint, using alternative tools, colours and shapes to echo landscapes while also triggering our imagination.

Early Career and Exhibitions

Jeanette Lafontine graduated from the Oslo Academy of the Arts. Soon after her studies, she was awarded a residency stay at Residency Unlimited in New York. Jeanette has had exhibitions at home and abroad, such as NOoSPHERE, New York, INTERNATIONAL JURIED SHOW (2013); Galleri Seilduken, Oslo (2013); Galleri Ramfjord, Oslo (2012); Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Oslo2011). Her paintings are in several private collections throughout Europe, the USA and Canada.
