From life to imagery, as honestly as possible:
Pencil studies, life experiences and the memories of them, their corporeal aspect, and theoretical investigations equally form the everyday basis of my art. Drawing and painting means living out this “Kunstwelt” in the studio – composing, reconciling, going beyond.

Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee (Product Design), Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem Budapest was my second-chance journey after studying Medicine for years. Not least it was the freedom that lays in the task of a big-family house husband, that made me the artist I am today – with international exhibitions and artworks in collections worldwide.

Born in baroque Ludwigslust in 1968, I’m from a generation that grew up in East Germany. Coming from a distant-from-art context, artistic imagery (as well as music) was a youthful dream, a personal niche, a horizon that couldn’t be negotiated with words. The bold non-conformity of some East German artists and the presence of German Expressionism were a tremendous encouragement to find my own way.

In the beginning was urban landscape, spaces and their secrets explored with altering layers of chalk and gouache. From the drawing boards I naturally moved on to painting on wooden panels.
The physical city-wandering was then superimposed by a topical drift – a non-figurative approach to anatomy being the first subject matter, the emergence of dance the latest. Welcome to my visual universe!
