Roger König
Employing traditional painting techniques and relishing the process of dedicated craftsmanship, Roger König creates ethereal figurative and abstract works. The German painter, who lives and works out of Bauhaus City Dessau, is known for his fascinating use of aged textures and layering.

Roger has been honing his practice since 1991. He holds a Master’s Degree in painting from HWK Halle in Germany. After completing his work at HWK, he studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Magdeburg. Evolving characteristics of his work include haptic surfaces - relating to the sense of touch - and compositional blending of off-white shades with warm earthy tones, luscious golds and cool greys.

Roger enjoys exploring time-honoured techniques, both in his painting style and use of material. His canvases take on many forms, such as antique walls, overlapping years of material existence and stylistic history. Combining old and new, the artist attempts to emphasise the almost rusty, imprinted, patina aesthetic of his work. His creations, like antiques, seem to grow more beautiful with time.
