Marleen Pennings

Marleen Pennings, who also works under the name Stroke a Bird, is a Dutch artist based in Germany who creates layered artworks that are playful and full of colour. The artist collages images, which she then works through with sweeps of paint. Her colours are hand-mixed, and her process intricate.

The artist studied Fashion Design and Illustration. Thereafter she worked as fashion designer and took on commissions as a stylist and illustrator. When she discovered her talent for painting, she left the fashion industry to pursue a career as an artist.

Marleen has exhibited in group and solo shows. Her work has also been featured in online and print publications.
