These subtle yet powerful pieces make eye-catching statement pieces.
Lisa Carney is a Canadian abstract painter raised on Quebec’s Gaspé Coast and now based north of Montreal. Her paintings are rooted in memories of open fields, coastal light and the expansive horizons of the Baie-des-Chaleurs region.
Working intuitively in acrylic, Carney builds atmospheric surfaces through transparent layers, softened gestures, drips and scattered marks. Her work moves between minimalist abstract landscapes and gardens. Horizons create a sense of distance and breathing room, while drips recur as a symbol of roots—of origin, growth and connection to place.
Colour is chosen instinctively and often reflects the mood of the day, allowing unexpected combinations to emerge. Romantic and poetic without describing a particular scene, Carney’s paintings invite viewers to slow down, wander and find their own meaning within the work.
Her work has been exhibited in Canada and the United States and is held in public and private collections internationally. She is represented by Galerie NuEdge Fine Arts International in Montreal.
