Mizue Yoshimura was born in Fukuoka, Japan and currently lives and works in London. She completed her BA(Hons) in Visual Art Painting at Camberwell College of Arts in 2005. She has exhibited in the UK, and mainly in London.
Influenced by light, water and the natural environment, she expresses the rhythms, patterns and colours of nature in her paintings. She has developed an original and highly personal technique that involves building up layers of acrylic paints into which she engraves with a chisel to reveal a multitude of otherwise hidden colours, textures and forms. Painting with this technique offers a paradoxically unpremeditated, random quality from a meticulous and precise methodology, to create a sense of space, depth and rhythm.
