Tal Paz-Fridman

I’m Tal, married, with three children (two girls and a boy) and one dog (sometimes more). I am from Israel but also from Canada. I started learning photography at thirteen when spending time with my younger cousin at our grandmother’s house in the Kibbutz. From there it became a hobby, a profession, forgotten hobby and now somewhat of a part-time profession \ full-time obsession.

I work in the intersection between Creative and Documentary photography. To paraphrase the description of the great American photographer Sam Abell, my style of photography is documentary in the sense that I record the world as it is, however, it has transcendent qualities that start at the documentary level, yet open to interpretation on an aesthetic level as well.

A book of my photography was published by Matar Books and MoD Publishing House [ISBN 9650510486]. The book follows the landscape and people of Israel captured throughout the night - from sunset to sunrise.

I am inspired by the natural world and especially by the seas and oceans.
