Bex Salter

Bex is an artist based in Essex, UK, whose practice explores the extremes of emotional vulnerability through painting as both an investigation and documentation of lived experience. Her work examines the push and pull between intimacy and distance, desire and discomfort, particularly in relation to the body, sexuality and the limits of the self. She is interested in capturing obsession, doubt, humour, contradiction and the strange ways people try to make sense of themselves.

Alongside her studio practice, Bex is the founder of The Paper Gallery, a growing written archive centred around personal experiences, cultural observations and artistic research.

Bex holds an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art and is a former Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She is also extremely grateful to work with Seawhite of Brighton in an ongoing material partnership, supporting her continued studio practice.
