Emma Lawrenson

Working from her Yorkshire studio, Emma’s practice is rooted in a sensitivity to landscape, memory, and the quiet rhythms of rural life. Her style utilizes muted tones and weathered surfaces to evoke a visual language of stillness, capturing the subtle shift of the seasons. Each piece is built using hand-drawn stencils and printed layers of colour applied to handmade papers and vintage book covers. Emma works back into the surface with coloured pencil or Conté crayon, creating multi-layered, contemplative works that bring a sense of calm to an interior.

An award-winning British artist and Royal College of Art graduate, Emma was elected an Associate of the Royal Society of Printmakers (ARE) in 2024. Her work has been exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and is held by the Royal Scottish Academy. She has also completed high-profile commissions for leading organisations including Faber & Faber, Netflix, and NBCUniversal.

“I love to create work that feels calm and meditative, and I aim to evoke that feeling in the viewer — a moment of pause, a return to something familiar yet newly imagined.”
