Stephanie Hamer

Stephanie Hamer (b. 1991, Manchester, UK) lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

Mostly rooted in personal narratives, Hamer’s distorted figures are placed in familiar yet skewed surroundings and situations. They are based on collages of preexisting imagery and fragmented memories. Her depictions evoke playful tensions and scenes centring on the subjects of femininity, the passing of time, and relationship dynamics.

The self-taught artist has recently completed the London-based Turps Banana Mentorship Programme 24/25. She was a resident of Burnt Sienna Art Studio, Berlin (2020-2025), where she also founded Kunst&Kritz – a constructive feedback programme for emerging artists. Throughout 2023, she participated in several artist residencies: Buinho (Portugal), Herhùsið, and Gullkistan (Iceland), where she began work on her ongoing series Father Knows Best.

In 2025, her first solo show 'Father Knows Best' opened in Berlin. Her work has been exhibited in several group shows in the UK and Europe, including most recently 'Anemoia', a group show featuring Berlin-based emerging artists. A series of the artist’s paintings is featured in the 2024 film Ravens, directed by Mark Gill. Stephanie’s works are mostly in private collections across Europe.
