Coco Hewitt is an artist who lives and works in London. She earned a BA from Central St Martins and an MFA from The Slade School of Fine Art. Her work is in private collections in UK, Switzerland, Australia, and USA.
Hewitt's work is rooted in the relationship between memory, place and landscape. Her gestural painterly technique frequently moves towards abstraction to produce reimagined environments. Places from memory are re-constructed through extensive layering, becoming fragmented in the expressive use of colour built up in a series of layers to create depth and texture. Dark deep rich hues are played off bright almost ugly tones.
