Luke Rudolf

Luke Rudolf was born in 1977 in London, where he lives and works. His paintings playfully explore the intersection of abstraction, figuration, and the influence of digital technology on contemporary painting.

A recurring theme in his work is portraiture, particularly how the face, in its most basic form, connects to psychological processes. In his ‘Portrait’ series, Rudolf investigates pareidolia—our brain's tendency to recognize faces in random shapes—and how these abstract forms trigger emotional responses.

His recent ‘Fizzog’ series builds on these ideas, using quick, raw sketches created in Photoshop. These spontaneous graphics are then translated onto canvas using precise painting techniques, blending digital and traditional methods. Rudolf’s work often carries a lighthearted, humorous touch, blending playful experimentation with deeper psychological themes.
