It is through painting that Sophie Cordey seeks to express her relationship with the world, as a gateway to fully experience it but also as a means to extract herself from it.
Her Journey
At first, she joined the Olivier de Serres school, with textile creation as an inexhaustible support for the play of forms and colors, and then obtained a DSAA at the Kunsthochschule in Berlin-Weissensee.
Works Rich in Emotions
Her work evokes the landscape, a landscape under construction. To transcribe and undo, as a way to appropriate what is observed, traversed, lived. Play of scale, broken perspective, colors that screech; interweaving, expanse, uprising; deconstruction. Wind and rain, heat and light, smells, colors, and sounds... Escapades and poetry charge her with raw sensations, accumulated vibrations; then the magic of transformation takes place in her studio.
Through small or very large formats, she dives into color, unfolds energy in planes, spaces, openings, and losses of scale at the edge of abstraction, to recall the song of the landscape.
