BIO
Julia Liko is a contemporary artist of Russian origin who has lived and worked in Berlin since 2009. She graduated from the Moscow State University of Printing Arts and continued her studies in Berlin.
In today’s fragmented reality, where identity is increasingly shaped through objects, artist Julia Liko finds inspiration in constant change. Her work explores everyday items as symbols of contemporary existence, echoing Renaissance portraiture in which each object carried meaning. In modern society, these attributes define personal identity while remaining temporary and disposable. This instability creates confusion, yet also reveals a particular beauty. By capturing fleeting moments within this unstable flow, the artist reflects on the relationship between people, objects, and the rapidly shifting structures of contemporary life.
