Lluís-Carles Pericó

Lluís-Carles Pericó was born in Barcelona on February 6, 1958. Between 1980 and 1983, he studied fine arts at the EINA University in Barcelona. During this period, he explored Italy, Greece, France, Morocco, and Minorca. In 1983, he received a scholarship from the Generalitat de Catalunya as a young artist. He participated in and distinguished himself in several artistic competitions, including the Joan Miró International Drawing Prize.

Between 1987 and 1992, he settled in a village on the Catalan coast while continuing to travel in Spain, England, and Wales. At the end of 1992, he moved to London, where he lived until 1996, before returning to Barcelona. Since the end of 2009, he has been living near Paris and working in his studio in Versailles.

The work of Lluís-Carles Pericó, inspired by his Mediterranean roots, initially revolves around abstract archaeological and architectural reminiscences. Gradually, his work turns towards imaginary landscapes, as so many fragments of his personal memory. For over twenty years, he has favored the technique of oil on wood.

His work is present in several public collections: Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Montcada-Reixach Town Hall, EINA Foundation, Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya, College of Spain at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. His works are also part of private collections in Spain, France, the U.K., Germany, Romania, the U.S.A., and Mexico.
