Alexandra Efimova

Alexandra Efimova (she was born in 1989) is a French artist of Russian origin. In 2020, Alexandra graduated from the Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in Saint Petersburg named after I. E. Repin. As a third-year student at the university, the artist began to visit European art residencies and started her creative career. For her, the surrealists and the masters of the Renaissance have always been close; we can also trace in the artist's work a close connection with 20th-century German art. In her first solo project "Faster than the Wind" (Erarta Museum of Modern Art, Saint Petersburg), Alexandra strives to show the fragility and variability of this world. She shares her fantasies, her childhood perceptions at the beginning of her journey. Over time and in relation to the events that have taken place in her homeland, the artist's work has changed. The author increasingly turns to the image of the human body, exploring themes such as communication, emigration, and feminism. Sometimes, we see in the works texts from the author's personal diaries. Recently, Alexandra has been working as a curator of projects for young artists and engaging in charitable activities as an emerging art collector. The author lives and works in France.
