Giovanni Gorini

Born in Lajatico (Pisa) in 1950, he began to paint in 1970. In 1972 he frequented the Institut d'Art and during this period, Pollock's painting and Gesture Art influenced him, to give his first "abstract" canvas. Until 1975 he deepened this research phase to free himself from the traditional "figurative". He then discovered the work of Giuseppe Santomaso, and struck by poetics and especially by the "relationship with reality" of the work of this artist, He met him in Venice in 1976. After this meeting and those which will follow regularly, the creations of Gorini take a decisive orientation. He prints his first portfolio "Autoscistienza-Presenza" with a text by the writer and friend Francesco Paciscopi. He consolidates his "reality/nature" research during two trips one in the Puglia with the painter Alessandro Gamba, and the other in Greece. It was also the time of his first trip to Paris, where he settled in 1979.
