Confronting geometric and modern lines with the landscape is the driving force of Ludovic Mercher. By making them coexist, he opens a world of new perspectives, hypnotic and decidedly captivating. Ludovic Mercher is a self-taught painter who lives and works in Vendée. It was from 2004, after experimenting with various materials and techniques, that he reached the sought-after purity and affirmed his particular approach, decidedly modern. During this period, he began to be supported in galleries in France as well as in Belgium. The painting of Ludovic Mercher is at the crossroads of the world of yesterday and tomorrow, of the ancestral and the modern. It is about finding a balance through the power of the imagination. He uses a deliberately stripped-down palette with plays of material: metal, fiber, paper, ink, etc. The painter also uses old papers and sometimes rust to testify, through oxidation, to the imprint of time. "I like to confront geometric and modern lines with the landscape, architectural masses with nature. The idea is to make them coexist."
