"The abstract of Sophie Dumont is not a concept, there is an approach where each canvas is built around a graphics put into perspective by color. The drawing can recall the modeling of a body or the meanders of A landscape. It is only the non -premeditated interpretation of a figurative idea, which takes other forms in space. The canvas is structured around a set of curves and lines filtering the lights. is in this sleek construction that the palette of tones often lives in scene. But the substance is never raw, drawing from its maturation of lyrical effects which are the result of fertile work of matter. The knife shapes the material in successive layers which merge in a combination of shimmering colors. The underlying presence of the different substrates creates this vibration born of the contrast between matter and color, to give the representation a life which is clean, independent of any reference. The viewer's gaze, far from guided, is invited to travel freely in the web. His perception is only the expression of his own emotions, simply subject to the effect of modulations transcribed by the artist.
