More Works by Abbi Torrance
Abbi Torrance
Abbi Torrance is interested in the human condition. Her deceptively simple figurative pencil drawings explore issues of free will and control. Torrance appropriates the choreography of synchronised swimming to highlight how people might be falling into line. Graph paper backgrounds make a statement about how human beings are increasingly seen as data, markets and demographics. Does the individual still have agency?

Torrance has been exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer exhibition, the ICA and Discerning Eye.
Our insider says:

Torrance’s work is a fascinating commentary on today's world in which ideologies are unconsciously imparted to us from a young age. In her work, the individual loses their status and becomes part of the overall pattern. I enjoy how overtly political she is, while wielding only a pencil.
