b.1980. Somerset UK. Originally trained in theatre design, Genevieve Leavold is a self taught artist working in a variety of different mediums.
The overarching themes in Leavold's work are time and transformation: An exploration of the ephemeral and the eternal.
This current body of work is concerned with identity, memory, and the conflict of the constructed self and true consciousness.
This is explored through a process of deep observation and abstraction of essential qualities of form and colour from the worn, overgrown and overlooked parts of her city to create intuitive, direct paintings and drawings.
