Chantal Joffe
Chantal Joffe is a London-based artist who paints large-scale expressive portraits. The artist has a distinctively loose style, painting in broad, unfussy brushstrokes. Chantal’s easy style lends her portraits an almost childish simplicity, but their distortions also give them a rather unsettling quality. We love the emotional intensity of Chantal’s portraits, which is achieved in part through her use of acidic colours.

The American-born artist completed her MA at the Royal College of Art. In 2006 the Royal Academy awarded her the prestigious Charles Wollaston Prize for the most distinguished work in their summer exhibition.

Chantal has contributed to other notable group exhibitions at London’s National Portrait Gallery, the Tate Liverpool and the Neuberger Museum of Art in New York. Her work is also held in the collections of the Saatchi Gallery and various museums in Italy.
